BTCC Race 2: Cammish scorches to victory in Valvoline colours at Donington Park

23 August 2026

Dan Cammish scored to an 18th career victory in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship in the second race of the weekend at Donington Park this afternoon (Sunday). Cammish’s third victory on the Grand Prix circuit also delivered a popular result for the fan-favourite Valvoline colours in which his NAPA Racing UK machine was presented this weekend.

It was Cammish’s teammate and standings leader Ash Sutton who took the lead initially, with a bold move around pole-sitter and race one victor Adam Morgan at Redgate. Sutton made certain of the position through the Craner Curves, and his NAPA branded Ford ended the first tour at the head of the pack.

Behind Morgan, Cammish slotted into third after but he made a mistake on lap two which allowed Morgan’s teammate Dan Rowbottom, in the other CPRL Mercedes to move into the top-three. Rowbottom then slipped past Morgan’s sister car on the Melbourne Loop to take second behind Sutton.

Cammish was by Morgan a lap later at Redgate while Rowbottom attacked Sutton. And with the top two squabbling, Cammish was able to loom back into contention at the very front, right on Rowbottom’s bumper. Rowbottom passed Sutton for the lead at the Fogarty Esses, on lap four and Cammish followed him through just a couple of corners later to continue the chase.

Further back, Tom Ingram in his Team VERTU Hyundai, who entered the race as Sutton’s nearest title challenger, made moves from ninth on the grid. And by lap five he was into fifth, with only Aron Taylor-Smith’s Laser Tools liveried Toyota separating him from Sutton. Ingram’s charge continued with a pass on Taylor-Smith the next time around.

At the head of the pack meanwhile, Cammish attempted to pass Rowbottom at the Melbourne Hairpin with the Mercedes just holding firm to stay ahead. A repeat attempt was made at Goddards just moments later and, following brief contact, the move was completed at the second attempt. That proved to be a decisive move for Cammish who went on to claim the victory in relatively comfortable fashion.

It was still all to play for behind him though, with Sutton holding remarkably well despite being stuck with a set of the theoretically slower hard tyre. But with just a handful of laps to go, he was hassling Rowbottom just as much as Ingram was attacking him. Rowbottom’s Mercedes temporarily slowed on the exit of the Fogarty Esses on lap 10 and that was enough to let Sutton through.

Crucially, however, Ingram didn’t make it by before Rowbottom recovered. This granted Sutton just enough breathing space to break clear and guarantee a NAPA Racing UK one-two. Ingram did eventually pass Rowbottom, but it was too late for him to catch Sutton and he had to settle for third. Not only did the result extend Sutton’s advantage over Ingram, but it also allowed Cammish to move up to second in the standings.

Rowbottom was fourth by the flag, just ahead of Ricky Collard who continued his hard charging exploits to move up from eighth to fifth. Dexter Patterson and Aron Taylor-Smith were sixth and seventh ahead of Aiden Moffat. Adam Morgan, hampered by running on the hard tyre, could only manage ninth after starting from pole position. Chris Smiley completed the top 10.
