Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport have officially announced their driver line-up for the 2026 British GT Championship, with Joe Wheeler now confirmed to partner James Townsend in an Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

Wheeler, who enters his fourth season of British GT competition, made his competitive debut in the Junior Saloon Car Championship in 2019 before progressing to Ginetta Juniors.

Following that, he graduated to British GT, where he recorded five GT4 Pro-Am podiums between 2023 and 2025, including a race-winning season in the McLaren Trophy Europe. The Clitheroe-born driver is familiar with Townsend already, having competed together in the final round of the 2025 season, as well as in other campaigns.

The Essex-based outfit will sport a distinctive dark crimson and pink livery, as the new-look team aims to consistently challenge for class podiums and victories.

Joe Wheeler said: “I can’t wait for the season to start with Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport. I know James well from our time together previously in British GT and with Fox being a proven race-winning British GT team in both GT4 and GT3, I don’t think we could be in a stronger position.”

Paul McNeilly, Team Principal, said: “It’s fantastic time to welcome Joe to Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport for the 2026 season. He and James know each other well from having driven in the same British GT team previously, so we know already that they have a strong working relationship. We’ll use the time we have pre-season to get both drivers used to the Aston Martin so we can start the season in the strongest position possible.
