Six-time World Superbike champion and British motorsport legend Jonathan Rea will return to the championship this weekend (10-12 July) at Donington Park as a wildcard entry with Honda HRC.
With the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship racing into the East Midlands venue for the circuit’s headline international event, fans will have another home hero to cheer on as Rea, who is the most successful rider in the series’ history with six consecutive titles between 2015 and 2020, returns following his retirement from full-time racing at the end of 2025.
Rea is coming into Donington Park off the back of a major two-wheel win, having just claimed victory in the Suzuka 8 Hours with Honda HRC last weekend, alongside fellow Honda WorldSBK rider Somkiat Chantra, and they will be hoping to carry that momentum into Donington Park this weekend.
The East Midlands has been a strong hunting ground for Rea in the past, with the Northern Irish rider claiming his first hat-trick of wins in 2019 in front of an adoring home crowd. Now, Rea will partner fellow home-hero Jake Dixon on the Honda CBR1000RR-R SP machine as the legendary Japanese manufacturer searches for its first podium of 2026.
Fellow British riders Alex and Sam Lowes, as well as recent British Superbike champions Tommy Bridewell and Tarran Mackenzie will also be in action as the contenders look to halt the charge of Ducati’s runaway series leader Nicolò Bulega at the top of the standings.
Tickets for the UK round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship are still available at discounted advance rates until 4pm Wednesday, with further savings for teenagers aged 13-15 and free entry for children under-13. For more information and to book, click here.
